October 28 Mexico City:
We will welcome you upon arrival at the Mexico City International Airport. Your guide will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel and help you get settled. The rest of the day will be free.
October 29 Mexico City:
Breakfast at the hotel (included).
Departure from the hotel for the guided tour of the historic downton, declared a "world heritage site" by UNESCO. Here you will see the National Palace, the Zócalo, the Aztec Templo Mayor, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Palace of Fine Arts, and the Postal Palace.
Free time for lunch (not included). We recommend the Azul Histórico restaurant (Mexican cuisine) or the terrace of the Gran Hotel México (Mexican cuisine) with a view of the Zocalo.
You will take a short coach tour on Paseo de la Reforma (the most important avenue in the city). You will be able to see on the way the Angel of Independence, the most famous monument of this avenue and will pass next to the park of Chapultepec where the only castle of the entire American continent is located, the castle of Chapultepec which was the residence of King Maximilian of Habsburg after Mexico freed itself from Spanish rule.
You will continue with the National Museum of Anthropology (closed on Mondays) which is one of the most important places in Mexico and Latin America. This museum consists of 11 rooms representing the historical, anthropological, and archaeological heritage of Mexico.
Continue to Garibaldi Plaza, the most representative place for the popular Mexican music, the Mariachi. This kind of music is registered in the Intangible Heritage of Humanity List of UNESCO. The Mariachi meet here every evening to play their songs together. Dinner later in the evening.
October 30 Teotihuacan (48 KM 1h30):

You will leave for the Three Cultures Plaza, where the pre-Columbian past, the Spanish past and the Mexican present intersect. Then, you will visit Guadalupe Basilica, the holiest place for Mexican-Roman Catholics. This site is dedicated to the patron saint of Mexico which is revered by many faithful believers of incomparable fervor.
Then, discover the wonderful archaeological site of Teotihuacan which in Nahuatl means "The City of the Gods" or "the place where the gods are created". It is one of the most impressive places in Mexico and the whole world.
Buffet lunch of typical Mexican dishes (included).
During your visit, you will be able to observe the pyramids of the Sun and the Moon. The first one towers 65 meters high, being one of the largest pyramids on the continent. There is also the Pyramid of Quetzalcoatl, the Serpent God, it is the only pyramid in Teotihuacán that has sculptures, which have the shape of a serpent's head, representing the god Quetzalcoatl, known as the god of war.
After the visit you will be going to a crafting center, where you will discover an obsidian cutting workshop whose craft is the specialty of the locals. You will have the opportunity to taste a typical drink made from the agave plant called “pulque”. Afterwards, we return to the hotel for resting and having a free evening.
October 31 Mexico City – Patzcuaro – Morelia (424 KM 6h):

Departure to Patzcuaro. Arrival and free time for lunch in Patzcuaro (not included).
In downtown Patzcuaro, you can enjoy a variety of cafes and restaurants with traditional and international dishes. Don’t forget to taste the typical ice-cream sold in the city center, the ice-cream with the “pasta” flavor is the most traditional.
You will take a guided tour of the city center and the candy market.
The name of Patzcuaro means "the door of heaven" in the Purepecha language. It is famous for its colonial beauty as well as for the authenticity of customs and local people. It is located on the shores of Lake Patzcuaro. Among its cultural riches that you will visit are the Basilica of Our Lady of Health, the House of the Eleven Courtyards, the library, the Temple of San Francisco, the Sanctuary Temple, the convent of San Agustin, the Sanctuary of Guadalupe, and the Don Vasco de Quiroga Plaza with its craft market.
Here you will experience the preparations made prior the Day of the Dead festival. This celebration is of paramount importance for the Mexican people. It takes place over 2 days, namely: November 1st and 2nd. This is an opportunity for families to get together. This festival is characterized by offerings of candies commonly made of sugar or chocolate skulls.
The people go to the cemeteries where their loved ones are buried while waiting for their arrival; strongly believing that their deceased relatives will return from the netherworld just this night. This is the reason that they decorate their homes and their graves with candles and flowers.
In the city center you will have the opportunity to have your face painted like a Day of the Dead-style skull. Afterwards, free time to visit the craft market and to enjoy the festivities that the locals do, such as local dances and parades. Depart for Morelia. Dinner later in the evening.
November 1 Morelia – Santa Fe de la Laguna – Janitzio – Tzintzuntzan (98 KM 2h):
Breakfast at the hotel (included). In the morning, you will have a guided tour of downtown Morelia. Morelia has been declared a cultural heritage of humanity by Unesco. It is known for the architectural beauty of its magnificent colonial buildings of pink stone.
You will visit the Cathedral, the Government Palace, the Clavijero Palace, the Roses’ Convent with its church and its main square. You will discover the typical sweets market, the aqueduct, the Fountain of Tarascas, the Romance Alley and the Calzada: a charming pedestrian pathway that joins the Sanctuary of Guadalupe, a church with an impressive interior decoration.
Departure to Santa Fe de la Laguna, where you will meet the Purepecha community which pays homage to the Day of the Dead. You will have the opportunity to enter the homes of Mexican families who are awaiting the arrival of their deceased, you will also be able to see all that they have prepared for them. You will also pay a short visit to the cemetery.
Continuing towards the island of Janitzio at Lake Patzcuaro, you will board a small boat that will take you to the island. You will visit its cemetery and marvel at the altars that families have prepared for their dead. Free time for lunch.
In the evening, you will leave for Tzintzuntzan. You will witness the lighting of candles for the Day of the Dead. You will visit the village cemetery to see the altars for the dead. Sometimes, people organize a contest of the most beautiful altars on the tombs.
If possible, you will continue to the archaeological site of Tzintzuntzan to attend the Festival of the Day of the Dead, where you will have the opportunity to see a representation of what the ancient ball game was.
November 2 Morelia – Tlaquepaque – Guadalajara (289 KM 4h):

Depart for Tlaquepaque. This is a colorful town that is known for its Mexican-style decor, where you will have free time to visit the craft shops. You will take a panoramic tour of the residential areas, the Minerva fountain, the university, the luminous arches, finishing in the historic downtown of Guadalajara where you will have free time for lunch.
Then, you will take a guided walking tour of the historic center. You will be surprised by the architecture of buildings such as “el Hospicio Cabañas” (closed on Mondays), the Government Palace and the Degollado Theater, among others. These are distributed in the four squares surrounding the Metropolitan Cathedral.
November 3 Guadalajara – Tequila – Guanajuato (70 KM 1h30 / 355 KM 5h):

Departure for the land of Tequila. Arrival in the town called Tequila, a place known by the same name as the beverage. This city is surrounded by fields of agave, the plant with which tequila is made from. You will visit a Tequila distillery and learn the process of making this beverage. A sampling is also planned. Free time for lunch (not included) in downtown Tequila. Departure to Guanajuato afterwards.
November 4 Guanajuato:
Breakfast at the hotel (included).
You will start the day with a short cable car ride that will take you to the Pipila Balcony, a viewpoint overlooking the city.
Continue with a guided city tour. Guanajuato is the seat of the International Festival “Cervantino”.
This beautiful city, full of charming alleys and squares, offers you interesting places, such as the Alhóndiga de Granaditas (closed on Mondays), the Juarez Theater (closed on Mondays), the Valenciana mine, el Callejon del Beso or “Alley of the Kiss”, and the University (all these visits are included). Its underground streets and avenues are unique in the country. Free time for lunch (not included).
Visit the Mummies’ Museum. This is an emblematic site, which for more than 150 years, it has attracted visitors from all over the world. In 1865, the first mummy was discovered in the cemetery of Santa Paula. Currently there are more than a hundred on display. This extraordinary phenomenon occurred thanks to the characteristics of the climate and the soil, enhancing the mummies’ preservation. Return to the hotel, free evening.
We suggest that you participate in a "callejoneada" night activity accompanied by a small musical concert by troubadours, this activity is a must in the city of Guanajuato.
November 5 Guanajuato – Dolores Hidalgo – Atotonilco – San Miguel de Allende (96 KM / 2h):

Starting with a visit to Dolores Hidalgo, a city that honors Don Miguel Hidalgo, who led Mexico's independence movement, you will visit his house where you will learn more about the Independence of Mexico and the city center with its zocalo and its church.
Continuation to Atotonilco. You will visit the Sanctuary of Jesus Nazareno, also known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas”.
Arrival in San Miguel de Allende, the place where the great comedian "Cantinflas" lived but also the residence of artists and intellectuals. Free time for lunch.
You will visit points of interest such as: the parish of San Miguel Archangel, the chapel of the Holy House, the church of San Francisco and the Allende house (exterior only).
After this visit, you will have free time to stroll around this charming village where a wide variety of cafes, restaurants, and craft shops awaits you.
November 6 San Miguel de Allende – Ciudad de Mexico (272 KM / 4h):
