We will start the day with a guided tour of this colorful city. Its colonial architecture demonstrates its Spanish heritage. The splendor of its colonial riches has earned the city the nickname of “Sultana of the East”.
This city is the ideal place to savor some typical dishes of the regional cuisine of Yucatán. You will have the opportunity to taste and see the method of preparation of the "cochinita pibil" the most representative dish of the region.
After the guided tour you have the possibility to visit Chichen Itzá (optional), one of the new wonders of the world, this archaeological site is undoubtedly the most famous in the Mayan world. The Mayans had an important knowledge of astrology, they built the most famous pyramid of Chichen Itzá in alignment with the Sun, so, on the day of the spring equinox, one can watch thanks to a set of shadows, the
God Kukulkan (the feathered serpent) descending the stairway of the pyramid.
End of the day we will take the road to Mérida.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3 : MÉRIDA
Breakfast at the hotel.
We will start the day with a guided tour of the city of Merida, whose historic center is the second largest in Mexico after Mexico City.
Thanks to its particular geographical location, the strong Spanish influence and its isolation from the rest of Mexico, Mérida has developed a specific cultural and political identity. Its unique culture and traditions are clearly seen in the local dress, language, cuisine and way of celebrating festivals and holidays.
Mérida cuisine is also different from traditional Mexican cuisine as it has been influenced by local indigenous culture as well as Caribbean, Mexican, European and Middle Eastern flavors.
After this visit, discover a Hacienda (optional), an old Mexican residence which proves the rise of the city in the 19th century. Enjoy a typical lunch at the Hacienda.
Visiting the Hacienda gives you a real sense of what was once a fully functioning Hacienda Henequenera, in the lavish style and true traditions of that period. You will literally travel back in time, transported on wooden carts called "Truks" which are pulled by mules as originally.
You will have the opportunity to know the transformation process of Henequen (the green golden thread of Yucatan); from plant to fiber, and from fiber to yarn and finished product.
This Hacienda also has a cenote where you can swim. (Bring back your bathing suit and a towel). Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 4 : MÉRIDA – CAMPECHE (184 KM/3H)
Breakfast at the hotel.
We will take the road to Campeche. Upon arrival, we will take a guided tour of the city. Campeche has a rich naval history and its architecture is Baroque in style. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999.
After nearly a century of relentless attacks by French, Dutch and English pirates on the city, the Spanish built a major fortification in 1686.
Over time, Campeche became the main colonial port of Yucatán, thanks to its formidable defense system, one of the best in the Western Hemisphere.
Breakfast in a local restaurant.
Free evening to enjoy the gastronomy of the city, its cultural activities and its ecotourism offer.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 5 : CAMPECHE – CALAKMUL (302 KM/6H)
Breakfast at the hotel. We will take the road to the archaeological site of Calakmul. This site was only discovered in 1930, it is one of the most recent Mayan sites open to the public. It is located in the middle of the largest tropical reserve in the whole country, this reserve is the second lung of all of America. You will feel like you are in an Indiana Jones adventure because this site is still very wild! approximately 6,000 buildings have been identified, of which only a few have been excavated. This site is still very little frequented, which will allow you to enjoy the peace and nature.
The diversity of forest fauna and tropical vegetation is astonishing. Calakmul is home to 86 species of mammals (jaguar, puma, ocelot, oncille, jaguarondi (or cat otter), anteater, spider monkey, howler monkey (or alouate), tapir, etc.), about 282 species of birds, 50 species of reptiles , 400 kinds of butterflies and 73 varieties of Oncidium luridium type orchids.
Get ready to spot monkeys, birds and other animals that call this beautiful place home!
Lunch “boxlunch” en route.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 6 : CALAKMUL – BACALAR – CHETUMAL (235 KM/5H)
Breakfast at the hotel
Road to the Bacalar lagoon, also called "the Seven Colored Lagoon"; thanks to the contrasts of the ground with its different depths, its waters reflect seven shades of blue. This lagoon also has an open cenote whose depth reaches 90 meters.
We will visit the village of Bacalar. There are different wooden crafts as well as typical handmade clothes: the huipiles.
Bacalar also has a fortification that protected it from pirate attacks due to its importance in the trade of goods from Central America and increased due to its large production of "palo de Tinte" an indelible black dye that was used as a dye for textiles by the English.
Fish lunch in a restaurant with access to the lagoon.
You will have the opportunity to take a motorboat ride to cross the lagoon, it is the best way to discover all the shades of blue that this paradise offers you.
End of the day drive to Chetumal. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 7 : CHETUMAL – MAHAHUAL (142 KM/2H)
Breakfast.
Road to Mahahual. Mahahual reminds many visitors of the Playa del Carmen of a few decades ago: a picturesque fishing village that welcomes the tourist by offering an ideal setting for adventure as well as for rest. What makes the place so charming is the absence of hotel chains, replaced by small hotels and of course its heavenly beaches!
Lunch in a restaurant by the sea, you can take advantage of deckchairs to sunbathe.
Here, we find the second largest coral reef in the world after that of Australia. Discover the marine life, the thousands of colorful fish and sea turtles that call these reefs home, with a snorkeling excursion.

With its peaceful waters, it is a perfect place for relaxation. Its soil is composed of a kind of clay good for skin exfoliation.
After this activity we will head to Tulum where we will have a “ceviche” lunch.
After lunch, you can visit the famous archaeological site of Tulum which was built as a defense port of the Mayan civilization and which is the only Mayan site built by the sea, this place offers you a perfect image of what is the Riviera Maya; a combination of Mayan culture and heavenly beaches!
