DAY 1 CANCUN
We will greet you upon arrival at Cancún International Airport. A representative will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in Cancún. You will have the afternoon free to enjoy the beach or Cancún's famous nightlife. Dinner at your own pace and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 2 CANCUN – VALLADOLID (161 KM/2H) VALLADOLID – MÉRIDA (159 KM/2H)
Breakfast at the hotel . We'll begin the day with a guided tour of this colorful city. Its colonial architecture is a testament to its Spanish heritage. The splendor of its colonial riches has earned it the nickname "Sultana of the East." This city is the perfect place to enjoy typical Yucatecan dishes. You'll have the opportunity to taste and observe the preparation process of cochinita pibil, the region's most representative dish.
After the guided tour, you'll have the opportunity to visit Chichén Itzá (optional), one of the new wonders of the world. This archaeological site is undoubtedly the most famous in the Mayan world. The Maya possessed significant knowledge of astrology; they built the most famous pyramid at Chichén Itzá in alignment with the Sun, so during the spring equinox, you can observe, thanks to a play of shadows, the sun.
The god Kukulkan (the feathered serpent) descending the pyramid steps. At the end of the day, we'll take the road to Mérida. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 3 MÉRIDA
Breakfast at the hotel. We'll begin the day with a guided tour of Mérida, whose historic center is the second largest in Mexico after Mexico City.
Due to its unique geographic location, strong Spanish influence, and isolation from the rest of Mexico, Mérida has developed a distinctive cultural and political identity. Its unique culture and traditions are clearly reflected in its clothing, language, cuisine, and the way it celebrates local festivals.
Mérida's cuisine is also distinct from traditional Mexican cuisine because it has been influenced by the local indigenous culture, as well as Caribbean, Mexican, European, and Middle Eastern flavors.
After this visit, explore a hacienda (optional), an old Mexican residence that showcases the city's growth in the 19th century. Enjoy a typical lunch at the hacienda. Visiting the hacienda will give you a true sense of what a fully functioning henequen hacienda once was, with the luxurious style and authentic traditions of the era. You'll literally travel back in time, transported in wooden carts called " truks " pulled by mules, just as in its early days. You'll have the opportunity to learn about the transformation process of henequen (the green golden thread of Yucatán); from the plant to the fiber, and from the fiber to the thread and finished product. This hacienda also has a cenote where you can swim. (Bring a swimsuit and towel.) Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 4 MÉRIDA – CAMPECHE (184 KM/3H)
Breakfast at the hotel. We will head to Campeche. Upon arrival, we will take a guided tour of the city. Campeche has a rich naval history and its Baroque architecture. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. After nearly a century of relentless attacks on the city by French, Dutch, and English pirates, the Spanish built a significant fortification in 1686. Over time, Campeche became the main colonial port in Yucatán, thanks to its formidable defense system, one of the best in the Western Hemisphere. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Free afternoon to enjoy the city's cuisine, cultural activities, and ecotourism offerings.
Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 5 CAMPECHE – CALAKMUL (302 KM/6H)
Breakfast at the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel. We'll head to the Calakmul archaeological site. This site, discovered in 1930, is one of the most recent Mayan sites opened to the public. It's located in the middle of the country's largest tropical reserve, the second lung of the Americas. You'll feel like you're on an Indiana Jones-style adventure, as this site still preserves its natural beauty! There are approximately 6,000 buildings, only a few of which have been excavated. This site is still very rarely visited, allowing you to enjoy the peace and nature.
The diversity of jungle fauna and tropical vegetation is astonishing. Calakmul is home to 86 species of mammals (jaguar, puma, ocelot, oncilla, jaguarondi, anteater, spider monkey, howler monkey, tapir, etc.), around 282 species of birds, 50 species of reptiles, 400 types of butterflies, and 73 varieties of Oncidium orchids. luridium . Get ready to spot monkeys, birds, and other animals that inhabit this beautiful place! Packed lunch along the way. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 6 CALAKMUL – BACALAR – CHETUMAL (235 KM/5H)
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Bacalar Lagoon, also known as the Lagoon of Seven Colors. Thanks to the contrasting depths of the floor, its waters reflect seven shades of blue. This lagoon also has an open-air cenote that reaches a depth of 90 meters.
We will visit the town of Bacalar, where you will find various wooden crafts and traditional handmade clothing: huipiles. Bacalar also has a fortification that protected it from pirate attacks due to its importance in the trade of goods from Central America. It also increased due to its large production of "palo de Tinte," an indelible black dye used as a textile dye by the English.
Fish lunch at a restaurant with access to the lagoon. You'll have the opportunity to take a motorboat ride (optional) to explore the lagoon; it's the best way to discover all the shades of blue this paradise has to offer . At the end of the day, transfer to Chetumal. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 7 CHETUMAL – MAHAHUAL (142 KM/2H)
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Mahahual. Mahahual reminds many visitors of Playa del Carmen decades ago: a quaint fishing village welcoming tourists and offering an ideal setting for both adventure and relaxation. What makes the place so charming is the absence of chain hotels, replaced by small hotels, and, of course, its idyllic beaches! We'll have lunch at a beachside restaurant, where we can enjoy sun loungers.
Here you'll find the second largest barrier reef in the world, after Australia's. Discover the marine life, thousands of colorful fish, and sea turtles that live in these reefs with a snorkeling excursion. (optional) Dinner and overnight stay in the Caribbean Sea.
DAY 8 MAHAHUAL – TULUM – PLAYA DEL CARMEN (290KM/4H)
Breakfast at the hotel . We will visit Kaan Lagoon. Luum , this lagoon is part of the Sian Ka'an Reserve . It features various bird species, as well as a cenote in the middle of the lagoon for diving. With its calm waters, it's a perfect place to relax. Its soil is composed of a type of clay that exfoliates the skin.
After this activity we will head to Tulum where we will have a ceviche lunch.
After lunch, you'll visit the famous archaeological site of Tulum (optional). Built as a defensive harbor for the Mayan civilization, it's the only Mayan site built on the seashore. This site offers a perfect glimpse into the Riviera Maya: a combination of Mayan culture and idyllic beaches! Transfer to Playa del Carmen. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 9 PLAYA DEL CARMEN – CANCUN AIRPORT (55KM / 1H)
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the Cancun airport or your all-inclusive hotel (for extensions).
